Type 1 to Type 2 Adapter with Cable, 32A (for vehicles with Type 1 connector) 

In European Union fast charging stations, AC access via a Type 2 62196-2 cable is most commonly available.

For electric vehicles that do not support rapid DC charging, there is still the option to use such a station by connecting from a Type-2 cable.

The Type 2 to Type 1 adapter is connected between the station's cable and the electric vehicle's Type 1 socket. 

Type 1 connectors are popular in the USA and Japan. This connector is used by such electric vehicles as Nissan Leaf, KIA Soul EV, Chevrolet Volt, and BMW i3 or Volkswagen e-Golf intended for the American market

Type 2 – the European standard, used by electric vehicles manufactured in Europe, such as: Volkswagen e-Up!, Hyundai Ioniq, Renault ZOE, Nissan Leaf, and Volkswagen e-Golf or BMW i3 intended for the European market or others
